Along this crazy road, I've met incredible people and have learned so much from all of them. As many of you know, one of those amazing human influences in my life was my Grandma. She was a beacon of light that could brighten any room. Her faith in God, even to the end, was something of incredible stature. Nothing I can say will fully express how important my Grandma was to me. I loved her greatly and miss her immensely. However, I can now rejoice with all others in the fact that she is having the greatest party of all in heaven! She's singing, dancing, maybe playing organ, and undoubtedly making some killer food. :) Living so far away has really shown a light on what and who I most value in my life. I would be no where without my family. They have supported me in everything I have done, especially in this crazy venture to Australia. I love them all dearly for it and cannot thank them enough for the support and love they have given me.
With all the sadness that has come with the loss of my Grandma, I can't help but remember how proud she was of me for taking the step to move halfway across the world. With that memory in hand, I have decided to run another race in a couple weeks in her honor. The race is a fundraiser for several different organizations including cancer research. My run is a tribute to her. If you wish to learn more about the race, you can visit the site for HBF Run for a Reason. I definitely have a reason for this run and her name is Gertie Bessert. <3
A couple weeks ago, I headed out on a week long camping adventure with my host family in Dongara, WA. What a blast it was to get away from the city and just relax on the beachfront! I read so much while in
One afternoon I decided to go on a little adventure by myself. I got some great shots of the beach and the estuary. Such a beautiful place!

The kiddos certainly love being a little crazy for pictures!
After a long week away, I spent the last sunset just chilling on the jetty with a friend. A very relaxing week was definitely needed. :)
All in all the past few weeks have been filled with ups and downs, but I am still having a great time down under. These past weeks have taught me that I have no control over anything regardless of how much planning I do or how much I think I can control circumstances. I am blessed to be where I am, surrounded with wonderful people, and feeling the love flowing from all parts of the world. I don't think I've ever been more thankful for the life that God has granted me with all the awesome opportunities he has given me.
Al,
